Song of the Heart by Prince

Raise your voices brothers, give praise to the great 'Guin
Who put songs in our hearts

You might make a different song, yes that's right it's true
That don't make anybody more or less as good as you
If you can't feel the music that's all you really need
Then turn this party all the way out
Good time guaranteed

Everybody get up
Clap your hands and dance to the beat
Whatever you do little darlin' it's cool
Just get up out your seat
And wave your flag because everybody plays a part
One world united singing the song of the heart

Look ... everybody makes mistakes
Oh yeah, not one or two (right!)
But that don't make the dirty little things they say about you true
(You tell 'em!)
Step aside little babies and watch me do my thing
I don't even need a good reason to do this
Listen to me sing

Everybody get up
Clap your hands and show them what you got
Tonight we gonna jam from now until eternity
Don't you stop - make it hot oh!
And wave your flag because everybody plays a part
One world united singing this song of the heart

Come on!
Watch me now!

Oh, I don't care what the people say
This is my life
I just got to like that okay (okay?)
They can go fly their momma's kite
Hooray!

(spoken)
We can be together if we all do our part
I’ll let you if you let me sing the song of my heart
We can be together if we all do our part
I’ll let you if you let me sing the song

(we got it!)
All right I'm going to tell you one more time
Listen ...
Unh

One world
One world
One world united
Singin’ a song
Singin’ a song
Singin’ a, singin’ a, singin’ a, singin’ a song of the heart

Feel me? Oh yeah!
Feel me? Keep singing!
You do you
I do me
Whateva! Get going y'all!
The song of the heart

Prince says it perfectly with this song. We are all different, we have different things that spark our attention, that make our heart pound.  We are different in many many many MANY ways.  But by different we are all beautiful.  Just because someone's 'heart song' doesn't draw your attention or you don't like it, doesn't mean you have to be rude to them.  They are themselves and you are yourselves.  Live your lives to to the best of your ability and push away the awful things of this world.  Make this world a better place by sharing your heart, joy, positiveness, happiness, and smiles with everyone you come in contact with.

On Its Way

Another week has gone by and April 3rd is coming pretty soon.  I can honestly say that I am excited for this day to come.  I may be the only one that does it, but that's okay, at least I will be standing up for something I believe in.

I stand for what I believe in, even if I stand alone.  I have the strength to stand alone.  I am strong enough to say no to the way the world thinks you should do things.  I have the will power to say no to being hateful, negative, and awful.

"On April 3, 2012, I want everyone to write something that has to with Have a Heart on their wrist, hands, or even fingers.  It does not have to be something big or fancy.  Just the words, a heart, or something that will remind for that day to Have a Heart and Stop the Hate."

Send in pictures of the pictures!
I will put them up with your name under!

We learn wisdom from failure much more than from success. We often discover what will do, by finding out what will not do; and probably he who never made a mistake never made a discovery.

Then, without realizing it, you try to improve yourself at the start of each new day; of course, you achieve quite a lot in the course of time. Anyone can do that, it costs nothing and is certainly very helpful. Whoever doesn't know it must learn and find by experience that a quiet conscience makes one strong.

Time Doesn't Stop

Last week I wrote about a challenge that I want everyone to do.  It is a simple challenge, if you didn't read it, here it is again.

"In one month exactly, on April 3, 2012, I want everyone to write something that has to with Have a Heart on their wrist, hands, or even fingers.  It does not have to be something big or fancy.  Just the words, a heart, or something that will remind for that day to Have a Heart and Stop the Hate."

Time doesn't stop and before you know it the time is gone.  Take a hold for it as you get it.  Never let yourself live the same day twice.  Each day is a gift, not a given right.  Use your time and life in a good and positive way.

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.

It will make or break a company, a church, a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.
We cannot change our past, we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way.

We cannot change the inevitable.

The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.

I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.

And so it is with you - we are in charge of our Attitudes.

Greatness comes from the inside, so ask yourself, are you great because you think, act, dress, and conform to ideas to do not truly believe? Or are you great because you follow what you know to be right and know to be true.

Start of Something New

We have just gotten into the month of March and with March comes the, soon to come, weather of spring.

As spring is starting a new year, I would like to start something new with Have a Heart - Stop the Hate.

In one month exactly, on April 3, 2012, I want everyone to write something that has to with Have a Heart on their wrist, hands, or even fingers.  It does not have to be something big or fancy.  Just the words, a heart, or something that will remind for that day to Have a Heart and Stop the Hate.

Show your support for yourself and the others that may have taken this challenge upon themselves.  Show your support for those that need help in the world.  Show your support for those that are picked on, bullied, or feels lost.  Show you support and stand tall for what you believe in and what in this world.

Don't be afraid of what others think because you have chosen to do this challenge.
There may be people out there that think you are stupid for taking on my challenge.
But I know you can do it.

And I, Chelsea Bastian, will always be here to help.

Being A Dancer

Being a dancer has many ups and downs, just like life. But through being a dancer, I am able to express myself everytime and anytime I want to. People can't tell me that I can't move one way because I am the one that is complete control of my body. No one can physically take over my body and make me do what they want me to.

Dance is a beautiful art form and even though it is used to express oneself most of the time, there are a ton of critics out there that want to tell you that you aren't good enough, aren't skinny enough, aren't flexible enough, or anything else. There is a definite.stereo type when you hear the word "dancer". But there are so many beautiful and amazing dancers that break the stereo types.

What I'm trying to say is, I have grown up with people telling me that I couldn't do it because dancing is never gonna get you anywhere in life. Being a dancer isn't a career that will get you anywhere in life. But I haven't given up on that dream, I haven't left it, I stand tall with my passion for dance.

Yes, there are going to be people in this world that is going to tell you no, but there are always gonna be people that will push you towards your dreams and wants.

Find them, because the kind of people that you choose to hang out with, is the kind of person you are going to be like.  Yes, you may make your own opinions and and actions and everything else like that, but the people and situation that surround you in fluences you in many different ways that you never really realize.

Be a person that brings people up instead of pushing people down.

As you bring other people up you also bring yourself up. Its a secret win-win situation that no one really thinks about.

Now, I don't know how people actually read this constantly, or how many people care. But next time, I want to give you a challenge. This is a challenge that I have been working on since October 21, 2011 and I still haven't been able to do it perfectly. Its a hard challenge, but its definitely worth the effort.

If you decide to take on this challenge I would hope for you to tell me how it goes and the things you go through as you try the challenge

Be The Change You Wanna See

I started this campaign for myself, not for anyone else, but for me.  In this campaign I have challenged myself to stop the hateful comments in my life.  It's not the easiest thing to do, especially it is one of my defense mechanisms, but definitely well-worth it.

Last night I was talking to one of my very good friend's 'ilai.  He is like a brother to me.  I don't remember how we got on the subject of my campaign, but it gave me the chance to challenge him.
"Try for a day to not say anything mean, rude, or negative.  It will open your eyes to how you treat other people and  view the world.  Also, watch for the hurtful, hateful, and awful words of others.  That will open your eyes more to how negative our world has become."
He told me that he would take that challenge for today and report back to me on how it went. :)

In one of my classes today we were having a discussions and through that discussion I was given the opportunity to explain my campaign to the whole class.  By the end of my explanation I had about twenty two additional people ready to take my challenge.

"I hear it all the time, people tearing each other down, its ridiculous!" JT

I started Have a Heart - Stop the Hate to be the changed I wanted to see in the world today.  I may not do much, may not touch many, but I will do my best in changing the lives of the people that come into contact with me.

This is me officially accepting this challenge to Have a Heart and Stop the Hate.

Stop, Listen, and Learn

I am sick of all the hate that is surrounding the world.  I don't like the nasty comments that are everywhere and are aimed at everyone.  It's awful...

I just want everyone to just stop and take some time to themselves.

Go somewhere quiet, like nature, and just sit there in the still silence of the world.

It is a beautiful thing to hear the birds chirp as they fly over head.  The animals running around on the ground.  The insects around you.  The world isn't a perfect place alone, but in all things there is beauty.  In all things there is a purpose.  In all things there is a perfect piece that makes the world the most amazing place to be.

In all people there is a beauty that is untouchable, but is hidden because of the fear of it being destroyed by the hate.

How does bringing a confident person down help you?
You aren't anymore confident than you were before.
Honestly, it really makes you worse because you hurt someone
for a selfish reason...

Come on people... why tear people down? I honestly don't understand it....

Special Needs

Amazing people that have the ability to see the world in a unique and positive way.

I love my cousin Lori, she is such a beautiful girl and is amazing to be around.  There is no way that I can be sad around  her.  She loves life and lives it to the fullest.  I'm glad that I had the chance to meet her and spend time with her every Thursday at Special Needs Mutual.  She loved when she first met me and she loves me more ever time we spend time together and get to know one another.  Lori has touched my heart a lot and there is no way I would be able to forget her.

I'm glad to have the opportunity to be around those amazing Special Needs because they don't see the world in the way we do.  They don't have to hate someone to be happy.  They are happy because they are alive and well.  They don't judge.  They are your friend if you are willing to be theirs.  They are you friend automatically and make you feel welcome if you just take the time to sit down and talk with them.

Yes, they are different, but we are all different also.  All in all, they are just like us.  People living their life and learning about themselves and others.

Tevan Harding - I love them too.  My uncle is Special Needs, (but we call it Special Abilities cuz it sounds cooler) and I absolutely love him to death.  He's so awesome. I still haven't learned to NOT look at him, especially when one of my favorite hymns are being sung during sacrament or any of the conferences, he cries tears of joy and, of course, I cry tears of joy.  I love him so much.

I knew his uncle and it is true.  He is an amazing man.  Kirk was one that loved music.  I remember going to primary and having him come in when we started to sing.  He sang with us.  I loved watching him pass the sacrament, with the other boys helping him start in the right place.  He is such an amazing person, I wish I had more time to sit down and just  get to know him. I miss Kirk.

Jacob Bastian - One of the door greeters at my store is a paraplegic, and he's so up beat and positive it's impossible to be down around him.  I enjoy when he works by our door because I know my day just got better.

Through all the ways that we meet the amazing people with special needs, whether it's family, friends, co-workers, or anything else.  I feel like everyone needs to remember that they are just like you and me, they just have something different to them.  They just live life a little bit differently.

Special Needs: Amazing people that have the ability to see the world in a unique and positive way.
